Jefferson Smurfit $200M Plant Operations & IBM Video Server Simulator

In 1993, David Dombrowski solved a multimedia dilemma that had stumped previous engineers: synchronizing real-time digital video, audio, text, and graphics within a single unified application. He was subsequently retained for the $200M green-field Container Corporation / Jefferson Smurfit paper mill, creating SOP/SMOP systems and demonstrating concurrent streaming over the 1996 IBM Video Server architecture.

1993-1996 Breakthrough Stack: Custom C/C++ & Visual Basic, IBM Video Server Token-Ring Hardware, SMPTE Timecode Synchronization, 100+ Concurrent Mill Terminals.
Resurrected 2026 Engine: PHP 8.2+, Free Embedded Relational DB, Real-Time Concurrent Terminal Stream Simulator, Standard Operating Procedures Vault.

High-Speed Paper Machine Reel & Turn-Up

Operating Temp: 280°F Dryer Cans
Design Pressure: 120 PSI Nip Pressure

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP / SMOP)

SOP-PR-204 • SOP (Operating) • SAFETY: Extreme (Moving Machinery Nip Point)

Air-Jet Paper Turn-Up & Empty Spool Acceleration

1. Spin incoming empty 12-ton steel spool up to matched surface speed (3,400 FPM). 2. Fire high-velocity air jet to sever 30-ton paper sheet. 3. Transfer sheet wrap onto new core within 1.2 seconds without tearing.
EMERGENCY: If turn-up misses, trip broke hole drop gates immediately to divert running sheet to pulper below.
