As a student at the University of North Florida in 1986 studying Computer and Information Science, David Dombrowski explored the newly installed AT&T UNIX System V 3B2 minicomputer. He wrote a custom shell profile that trapped guest logins into an interactive menu. When Lab Director Professor Thomas Blakely discovered it, he immediately asked who wrote it and hired David on the spot as Student Systems Operator. David went on to bridge the standalone MS-DOS and Macintosh PCs to the UNIX minicomputers via token-ring networking.
